In a Place Where Nothing Ever Happened, it Appeared that Everything Was Happening All at Once

October Sinclair is desperate to escape the postcard-perfect monotony of Honeycomb Beach. The sunsets are dazzling, the neighbors are unfailingly pleasant, and her job at the Honeycomb Beach Times is steady but stifling. Every day, she looks at the poster of Italy above her desk—a reminder of the adventure she craves.

When the paper’s star writer quits unexpectedly, October seizes the chance to step into the spotlight and land the promotion she needs to fund her escape. But her hopes are dashed when her boss hires a stranger for the role instead. Frustrated yet undeterred, October begins searching for the story that will change her career—and her life.

What she finds is beyond anything she expected but it comes with a cost. Will she expose the story to secure her future and chase her dream of Italy, or protect the bond that’s shown her a new kind of adventure—one she never expected to find so close to home?

I love the way that the main characters in all of Valerie’s books confront a challenge and eventually discover the person they are meant to be. This is another successful story in which the reader finds enjoyment and feels that there is still goodness in the world. Another bonus to this book…an author writing a novel about other authors writing their own novels! It’s fascinating!
